Current position

Oliver Krancher is an Associate Professor in the business IT department of ITU.

Research areas

Oliver's research focusses on learning in the development, use, and management of information systems. Topics include:

Oliver is listed among the global top 100 researchers in the information systems discipline by aisresearchrankings.org (based on publications the top 4 IS journals in 2017-2019). He has received the McKinsey Business Technology Award for his dissertation on knowledge transfer in offshore outsourcing and the AIS Innovation in Teaching Award for teaching enterprise systems.

Curriculum

Oliver studied information systems ("Wirtschaftsinformatik") at University of Regensburg, Germany and at Università del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy. After his studies, he worked as a consultant at Accenture in Germany, focussing on enterprise software and offhsore outsourcing projects, which inspired much of his research. He then obtained his PhD and a certifcate for Higher Eduation from University of Bern, Switzerland (PhD supervisor: Jens Dibbern). During his PhD studies, he was also a visiting scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, USA with Sandra Slaughter. From 2013 to 2018, he worked as an assistant professor at University of Bern. Since 2018, he has served as an associate professor at IT University of Copenhagen and as an external lecturer at University of Bern.
