Current position

Oliver Krancher is an Associate Professor in the business IT department of ITU and the head of the Global Business Informatics BSc program.

Research areas

Oliver's research interests revolve around IT management, including IT outsourcing, management of artificial intelligence, and IT project management. 

Oliver is at rank 2 among information systems researchers based in Denmark according to aisresearchrankings.org (based on publications in the top 4 or top 8 IS journals in the past fie years). He has received the McKinsey Business Technology Award for his dissertation on knowledge transfer in offshore outsourcing and the AIS Innovation in Teaching Award for teaching enterprise systems.

Curriculum

Oliver studied information systems ("Wirtschaftsinformatik") at University of Regensburg, Germany and at Università del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy. After his studies, he worked as a consultant at Accenture in Germany, focusing on enterprise software and offshore outsourcing projects, which inspired much of his research. He then received his Ph.D. and a certificate for Higher Education from University of Bern, Switzerland (Ph.D. supervisor: Jens Dibbern). During his Ph.D. studies, he was also a visiting scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, USA with Sandra Slaughter. From 2013 to 2018, he worked as an assistant professor at University of Bern. Since 2018, he has served as an associate professor at IT University of Copenhagen and as an external lecturer at University of Bern.
