I am an ethnographer, poet, writer, and Associate Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen. My research, in the field of Science & Technology Studies (STS), is concerned with the effect of landscape on how the future is imagined and made in high-tech industry: how might the future be made differently, in different places? I am also exploring different methods for writing futures, from art books and fanzines, to audio walks and poetry.
For the last 11 years I have worked with the mobile telecoms industry, the renewable energy industry, and the public transport sector, and I am currently collaborating with the development of the marine energy industry (wave and tide energy) in the Orkney islands, Scotland, as part of the FSE project 'Alien Energy'.
This interest in researching high-tech futures developed from my prior career as a futurist and mobile phone designer in the telecoms industry.
My work is always collaborative and weaves together different forms of knowledge and disciplines, often at the edge and in the margins of 'innovation'. I am always interested in speaking with potential collaborators, from policy and industry through to potential PhD students.
