Research and teaching information
My research focuses on the role of digital media technologies, platforms and data for political contention, protest, activism, racism, civic engagement, social movements and more broadly political communication. Current research projects are Data as Relation: Governance in the age of big data (PI: Brit Winthereik, 2017-2020, Velux Foundation) and Images of Conflict – Conflicting Images (PI: Mette Mortensen, University of Copenhagen, 2017-2021, Velux Foundation). My most recent publications include the co-edited volume (with Mette Mortensen and Thomas Poell) Social Media Materialities and Protest published by Routledge in 2019. Since 2018, I am vice-chair of the Communication and Democracy section at ECREA (European Communication Research and Education Association). I am course manager of Data Design in the MSc program and Network Society in the BSc program Digital Design and Interactive Technologies.
