Digital collaborative infrastructures and the work of knowledge maintenance and repair - The case of Wikipedia
Activity: Talk or presentation types › Lecture and oral contribution
Giacomo Poderi - Speaker
Guest lecture at the "Technology in Organizations and Society" course.
In this lecture, I adopt the STS concept of infrastructure to look at contemporary cases of digital platforms and ecosystems and at how they facilitate different forms of collaboration. In particular, I focus on Wikipedia as an exemplary case of information infrastructure that supports the production of encyclopedic knowledge by means of distributed and self-organized collaboration among human and non-human actors. Typical dimensions of infrastructures such as categories, standards, breakdowns, non-neutrality, incremental, and relational nature will support our exploration of Wikipedia during the lecture.
