Improving face detection with TOF cameras

    Abstract

    A face detection method based on a boosted classifier\nusing images from a time-of-flight sensor is presented. We\nshow that the performance of face detection can be improved\nwhen using both depth and gray scale images and that the\ncommon use of integration of hypotheses for verification can be\nrelaxed. Based on the detected face we employ an active contour\nmethod on depth images for full head segmentation.
