Abstract

One part of the artistic experiment in-progress, BDTB, investigates the concept of life - the way it is understood and defined by humans. Firstly, it explores the idea of artificial chemical life; what types of biochemical structures must have been present in the situation that was making possible life to emerge on Earth. Secondly, it juxtaposes this to today's developments in the field of artificial life and artificial intelligence. The artistic experiment, BDTB, aims at combining, in an experimental installation format, some of the ideas developed in the protocell-research and concepts dealing with computational artificial life in the digital realm.
