Rohingya mHealth on Diabetes and Hypertension: Improving Access to Healthcare for the Rohingya Refugees and their Host Community in Bangladesh

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The purpose of the proposed project is to further develop support for the Rohingya Refugees and their host community in Bangladesh by increasing their access to healthcare though an mHealth platform. At present, Friendship provides healthcare services to the Rohingya through a network of clinics staffed by paramedics. Key to these paramedics work is a mHealth application made by Friendship and ITU which helps them register patients, perform diagnosis, suggest treatment, and handle referrals. The ITU will lend its expertise to support and further expand these mHealth initiatives by developing two new modules on diabetes and hypertension. The proposed project, then, is a continuation or expansion of already ongoing efforts funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation.
