Abstract

The Danish-India Bilateral Research Initiative on Digitalized Green Hydrogen Ecosystems (H2-BRIDGE) is a collaborative effort between leading academic and research institutions in India and Denmark. Funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, Denmark, under the Global Innovation Network Program (GINP), H2-BRIDGE aims to identify research gaps and foster collaboration in the rapidly evolving field of green hydrogen. From 2024 to 2026, the consortium, including IT University of Copenhagen, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras (IITM), IITM Research Park, FIDE, CEET-IITM, and ICDK Bangalore, has been examining potential research challenges and exploring opportunities to advance the green hydrogen ecosystem in both countries. This roadmap paper presents the consortium’s findings, highlighting critical research challenges across the green hydrogen spectrum. It focuses on energy planning, localised production models, and the essential software ecosystem that supports the green hydrogen investments. By providing a clear overview of the current research landscape, this paper sets an agenda for targeted collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening green hydrogen ecosystems in both India and Denmark.
