Abstract

the paper examines the emergence of a new research agenda in the study of mobile phones and mobile media. This is an example of issues and concerns migrating from one research field – namely internet studies in general, and studies of children's internet safety more specifically – to another. It also shows how policy, academic, and public agendas converge and form the discursive environment in which smartphones are being domesticated. Finally, it addresses the issue of how this new set of research questions can be and are addressed, and what the epistemological implications of the convergence of internet and mobile studies are.
