Abstract

This paper introduces AlcoCircle, a framework for classifying alcoholrelated tracking applications across major digital platforms, including the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Chrome Web Store.

Drawing from behaviour change theory, the framework organizes
apps by purpose (e.g., alcohol reduction, abstinence support, consumption promotion), technical characteristics (platform compatibility, cost model), and ethical considerations (e.g., data security).

By systematically mapping the alcohol app ecosystem, AlcoCircle
reveals underdeveloped areas such as education and responsibleuse interventions and provides a foundation for evaluating and
designing alcohol-related digital health tools. The framework is
intended to support researchers, designers, and policymakers in
advancing harm reduction, health promotion, and user-centred
alcohol tracking technologies.
