Stina Hasse Jørgensen is an assistant professor at the Digital Design Department at the IT University of Copenhagen. Together with associate professor Jonas Fritsch, she recieved a grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark to explore novel vocal imaginaries and synthesized voices. In her PhD studies at the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, University of Copenhagen, the politics and aesthetics of (synthesized) voices in media arts and design was investigated through practice-based research.
Stina has published articles on contemporary art, design, sound technologies, collective work and affective labor in journals such as Digital Creativity, Seismograf Peer, Transformations, Journal of Audio Engineering Society, Cultural Analysis, and contributed to anthologies such as Terræn: Veje ind i samtidskunsten (2019) and The Bloomsbury Handbook of Sound Art (2020). Stina has given papers at conferences such as Politics of the Machine, ISACS, Terræn, Audio Mostly, ISEA, Aesthetics, Ethics and Biopolitics of the Posthuman, Global Lives Project - UC Berkeley, Re-New IMAC, and NORDIK.
Stina is also a practitioner and curator of design and art with a focus on sound, technology, feminism and collective practices. She has presented her projects at places such as Den Frie Udstillingsbygning, NLHspace, Kunsthal Aarhus, DIAS - Digital Interactive Art Space, Roskilde Festival, Tech Festival, Wundergrund Festival, Atelier Hotel Pro Forma, MIX Copenhagen, Catch at Click Festival, LAK festival, and BEAM festival (UK).
Stina develops and teaches courses in topics such as sound art, sound design, electronic composition and production, digital experience and aesthetics, interaction design, ethnographic methods in design and postphenomenology. She lectures at the Digital Design Department at the IT University of Copenhagen, the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies at University of Copenhagen and Lund University. She also works as guest teacher and external examiner at DIEM (The Danish Institute of Electronic Music) at the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus, and is a MFA Mentor at the School of Media Arts, Royal Academy Of Fine Arts.
