Frauke is a postdoctoral researcher and anthropologist at the IT University of Copenhagen, where she is part of the Technologies in Practice research section. She has previously worked at a Danish fertility clinic as a project manager and at the University of Copenhagen as an external lecturer. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University in Copenhagen, and two masters and a bachelor from Ghent University. Her research interests span wide: from reproductive technologies and queer families to the connections between climate change and digital technologies to rural South Asia and political violence. Her fascination with reproductive technologies emerged during her time at the fertility clinic, where she started paying attention to notions of gender, kinship, race, medical authority, midwife practice, donor selection and intra-clinical negotiations.
